Four candidates nominated by the Left Front formally submitted their nomination papers on Wednesday at the election office in Balurghat, South Dinajpur district, marking the start of an active campaign phase ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

The candidates include Arnab Chowdhury of the RSP for Balurghat, Mofazzal Hossain of the CPI(M) for Kumarganj, Bappai Horo of the RSP for Tapan, and Biplab Barman of the CPI(M) for Gangarampur. Each candidate completed the required formalities at the administrative building, submitting documents to the designated election officials.

Earlier in the day, a large procession began at the Shramik Krishak Bhavan in Mongalpur, Balurghat. The rally, attended by approximately two thousand party workers and supporters along with district leaders, moved through the town in a display of party unity. Red flags and party symbols were prominently featured as the procession concluded near the administrative building.Following election guidelines, only a limited number of individuals accompanied each candidate into the office to complete the nomination process.

Addressing supporters after the rally, district convener Nandalal Hazra criticized both the ruling Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He accused the Trinamool of corruption and malpractice, particularly in recruitment processes, and alleged that both parties had contributed to voter harassment and social divisions. Hazra expressed confidence that voters would respond through the ballot box on April 23.

The event concluded with slogans from party supporters filling before the administrative area. Additional Left Front candidates from Kushmandi and Harirampur constituencies are scheduled to file their nominations on April 4 at the election office in Buniadpur.
