Political temperatures are steadily rising in the 38. Kumarganj Assembly constituency of South Dinajpur district, as parties intensify their outreach ahead of the upcoming election. In an exclusive conversation with our correspondent, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Subhendu Sarkar expressed strong confidence about securing a victory, even in this minority-dominated constituency.

Subhendu Sarkar framed his campaign around a promise of change, arguing that local residents have grown weary of long-standing issues. “The people of Kumarganj want transformation,” he said. “They have endured persistent challenges for years and are now ready to support a development-oriented government.” He emphasized that improving education, healthcare, and transportation infrastructure would be central to his agenda if elected.Addressing questions about his prospects in a constituency with a significant minority population, Subhendu Sarkar maintained that his party’s approach transcends religious divisions. “We do not engage in politics based on religion. Development is our only goal, and people from all communities are standing with us,” he asserted.

He also responded to pointed questions regarding unemployment, agricultural distress, and the poor state of local infrastructure, offering assurances that concrete steps would be taken to address these concerns promptly if he comes to power.Political observers suggest that the Kumarganj seat is shaping up to be a closely contested battleground this election cycle. Subhendu Sarkar’s confidence, they note, will ultimately be tested at the ballot box, where voter sentiment in this complex constituency will play a decisive role.
