In an effort aimed at promoting physical fitness and community engagement among young people, the district office of My Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) on Monday evening distributed sports kits to a range of youth clubs across South Dinajpur.
The program brought together officials, club representatives and local residents who said the initiative would help strengthen grassroots sports activity and encourage healthier lifestyles for adolescents and young adults.
Among those present were the district youth officer, Saurav Barman; administrative assistants Rajendra Das and Mousumi Halder; and the social worker Suraj Das. Representatives from youth clubs across the district attended the event, many of them welcoming what they described as timely support.Organizers said the primary goal was to motivate young people toward physical and mental development through sports while reinforcing the role of clubs as centers of community life.
“Sports are not just a form of exercise,” Mr. Barman said. “They instill discipline, unity and the spirit of teamwork. The role of athletics is immense if we want to build a healthy and progressive younger generation.”
Mr. Das echoed that sentiment, saying stronger youth clubs contribute directly to social development. “Today’s initiative will inspire young people to take greater interest in sports and help guide them in the right direction,” he said.
Members of participating clubs said shortages of equipment had often hampered their activities. The newly distributed kits, they added, would allow them to organize practices and competitions more effectively.
Representatives thanked My Bharat and the district administration for the support and expressed hope that similar programs would continue in the future.
As the event concluded, attendees said the initiative had not only provided material assistance but also boosted morale, offering renewed encouragement to young people seeking opportunity, structure and solidarity through sport.
