A couple from the Batun area of Kumarganj  chose to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary not with a private ceremony, but with a community initiative aimed at saving lives. On Saturday, Binay Krishna Sarkar and Lipi Sarkar organized a blood donation camp at Batun Primary School, an event that drew appreciation from residents across the locality. The program also observed International Mother Language Day, honoring language martyrs with a moment of silence and a brief discussion meeting.

Sixteen volunteers donated blood during the camp. Notably, the couple themselves participated as donors, underscoring the social message behind the event. Their effort was supported by Bangiya Mahishya Samaj, whose district secretary Sandipan Sarkar and other members attended the program.

Local residents said the initiative sends a positive message and encourages others to take part in blood donation drives. By dedicating a personal milestone to public welfare, the couple’s anniversary celebration has become a noteworthy example of community service in the Kumarganj area.
