Invoking the time-honored maxim that blood donation is the highest form of charity, Nadipar Naresh Chandra High School in Balurghat(Chakbrigu) on Friday organized a voluntary blood donation camp as part of the concluding observances of its Platinum Jubilee year. The initiative, held on the school premises, sought to bolster the dwindling blood reserves of the Balurghat District Hospital Blood Bank .
The day-long program unfolded with ceremonial gravity and civic purpose. Morning proceedings included the hoisting of the national flag and a road race, followed at midday by the blood donation drive. According to the school’s headmaster, Shankar Kumar Laha, a total of twenty-two donors came forward voluntarily, underscoring what he described as a “collective moral responsibility toward society.”The camp was conducted in collaboration with the Balurghat District Hospital Blood Bank and drew participation from a cross-section of the community, including teachers, students, and local residents. Medical personnel supervised the process, ensuring adherence to established health and safety protocols.“This is not merely a commemorative event,” Mr. Laha said in a statement. “It is an affirmation of our institutional values—service, solidarity, and social conscience.”The blood donation camp serves as a prelude to the formal Platinum Jubilee closing ceremony , scheduled for January 5 and 6. The two-day celebration will feature an array of inter-school quiz competitions, academic and creative exhibitions, cultural performances, and a prize distribution ceremony, all to be hosted on the school campus.Mr. Laha extended an open invitation to alumni, former and present faculty members, and guardians, expressing confidence that the culmination of the jubilee year would be etched indelibly into the school’s institutional memory. As the school transitions from celebration to legacy, Friday’s act of voluntary blood donation stood as a quiet but potent testament to the enduring relevance of civic altruism in an era often marked by indifference.
