Bishwanathpur Primary School today hosted a vibrant “School Readiness Fair” for first-grade children, aimed at making the transition from home to school joyful and stress-free.The event was jointly organized by Bishwanathpur Primary School, Basanti SSK, Keshurail, Tilna and other nearby schools, in collaboration with the Prothom Education Foundation. The fair began on a colorful note with a cultural programme presented by the children, setting a festive and welcoming atmosphere.

The programme was graced by the Headmistress of Bishwanathpur Primary School, Ms. Jayanti Roy, Assistant Teacher Mr. Pradip Kumar Das, and other members of the teaching staff. Representatives from the Prothom Education Foundation — Manohar Kumar, Mizanur Rahman, Subrata Pal, Golapi Karmakar, Partha Sarathi Roy Chowdhury, and Lakshmi Karmakar — were also present and actively involved.

In a unique and community-driven approach, the children were assessed by their mothers and local women volunteers, making the process more inclusive and comforting for the young learners. The core objective of the fair was to support children in smoothly shifting from the home environment to the school environment. Special emphasis was placed on five key areas of child development:Physical development,Intellectual development,Social development,Language development, Pre-mathematics skills.

Each area was evaluated through four focused activity-based domains to ensure holistic assessment. In the presence of their mothers, 46 children were assessed during the fair. After the evaluation, report cards and activity worksheets were handed over directly to the mothers. Teachers and organizers also held interactive discussions, guiding parents on how to care for their children at home and support early learning through simple daily practices.

The School Readiness Fair stood as a powerful example of how schools, communities, and educational organizations can work together to build a strong foundation for children’s future learning — proving that when education begins with care, confidence follows.
