The 77th Republic Day of India was celebrated with solemn dignity and vibrant public participation on Monday as the South Dinajpur district administration organized an elaborate state ceremony at the Balurghat Stadium Ground.

The celebrations unfolded with full ceremonial honors, reflecting both the constitutional spirit of the nation and the administrative commitment to inclusive civic observance. A colorful parade, featuring contingents from police, and other departments, set the tone for the day. The disciplined march-past drew applause from spectators gathered across the stadium. Cultural performances followed, blending patriotic music, dance and local traditions, underscoring the diversity and unity that define the Republic.

The event was attended by District Magistrate Bala Subramanian T., Superintendent of Police Chinmoy Mittal, along with senior administrative and police officials. Their presence reinforced the importance of the day as both a constitutional milestone and a reaffirmation of public service.

A special attraction of this year’s celebration was an arms exhibition fair organized by the Border Security Force (BSF). The display drew significant public interest, offering citizens a closer look at the equipment used by the force in safeguarding the nation’s borders, and fostering a deeper appreciation of the role of security personnel.

As the national flag flew high over the Balurghat Stadium, the observance in South Dinajpur stood as a reminder that Republic Day is not merely a ceremonial occasion, but a living expression of democratic values, civic responsibility and collective national pride.
