Night-Long Badminton Fever Grips Patiram as 16-Team Doubles Tournament Begins

Patiram witnessed an electrifying start to the day-and-night 16-team Doubles Badminton Tournament, organized by Patiram Badminton Lovers, as sports enthusiasts gathered in large numbers to celebrate the spirit of the game.Now in its seventh year, the tournament has grown into a major sporting event, attracting players not only from different parts of South Dinajpur district but also from neighboring regions such as Bihar, Malda, North Dinajpur, and Siliguri. This wide participation has given the competition a strong inter-district and inter-state character.




The inaugural ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Sagar Kumar Sarkar, Secretary of the Patiram–Parpatiram Traders’ Association, prominent businessman and former player Mrinal Kanti Saha, and local school headmaster Sandip Mondal, among others.



According to the organizers, the main objective of the tournament is to inspire the younger generation to take greater interest in sports and physical fitness. The excitement was evident from the very first match, which kept spectators on the edge of their seats.




In the opening encounter, Ratan from Balurghat and his partner defeated Niloy from Gazole and his partner in straight games by 17–14 and 15–6. The fast pace, tactical play, and excellent coordination between the pairs drew loud applause from the crowd.With many thrilling matches still to come, sports lovers are eagerly looking forward to more high-voltage action as the night-long tournament continues.
