In a striking testament to perseverance and discipline, ten young boys and girls from South Dinajpur district have secured positions in India’s central armed forces, emerging successful from highly competitive national recruitment examinations despite limited local resources.
All ten candidates trained at the Smart Galaxy Coaching Center in Balurghat, a town in this predominantly rural district of south Dinajpur . Competing against hundreds of thousands of aspirants nationwide, they earned placements in the Central Reserve Police Force, the Sashastra Seema Bal, the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force.
Their achievement was formally recognized on Wednesday at a felicitation ceremony held at the coaching center’s campus. The newly selected recruits were joined by their families, many of whom struggled to contain their emotions as the students reflected on years of uncertainty, intense preparation and repeated setbacks. As the successful candidates prepare to leave for postings across the country, the occasion was also marked by tearful farewells among friends.
The chief guest at the event, Bikram Prasad, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), addressed aspiring job seekers with an account of his own journey through adversity. He spoke of clearing the West Bengal Civil Service examination through determination in difficult circumstances, urging students to remain resilient in the face of failure.
Another guest, Arup Chakraborty, chief priest of the Bolla Rakshakali temple, emphasized social responsibility, encouraging the newly employed youths to contribute a small portion of their future earnings toward helping the underprivileged and supporting financially weaker students.
Tushar Das, founder of the Smart Galaxy Coaching Center, said the success carried significance beyond individual achievement. “Opportunities are scarce in a marginal district like ours, yet our students have proven their merit at the national level,” he said. “Candidates from Birbhum, Malda and other districts have also succeeded here. This is not just their pride, but the pride of the entire region.”
In a district where access to advanced training and infrastructure remains limited, the accomplishment has become a symbol of aspiration — and a reminder that determination can bridge even the widest gaps.
