With the aim of nurturing a love for books among young minds, an art competition unfolded on Friday afternoon at the South Dinajpur District Book Fair, held at the Gangarampur Football Ground. Beginning around 1 p.m., the drawing contest drew nearly 148 participants across three age-based categories.
Students from various schools gathered with colors and brushes in hand, translating imagination into vivid scenes on paper. The fairground, usually lined with bookstalls, buzzed with youthful energy as children immersed themselves in creative expression. The enthusiasm was palpable — from the focused concentration of the young artists to the encouraging smiles of parents watching from the sidelines.
Guardians praised the initiative, noting that such creative engagements enriched the book fair’s atmosphere and offered children an opportunity to connect learning with joy. Organizers echoed that sentiment, saying that cultural programs like drawing competitions not only support mental and creative development but also help foster a lasting interest in reading.
As splashes of color spread across canvases and laughter echoed through the fairgrounds, the book fair took on a festive glow — a reminder that stories can be told not only through words, but also through art.
